Seed Packet Art: Garden Mimicry
Students from Unity Elementary, Charlestown Primary, and Maple Avenue Elementary schools submitted designs to be showcased on our Native Pollinator Plants Seed Packets that are sold at the District's Spring Plant Sale. This program has been collecting art each year since 2019.
This year's theme was Garden Mimicry. Students learned how plants and animals imitate each other to promote survival for one or both organisms. Mimicry may be to camouflage the predator or the prey, it may attract pollinators to flowers, it may cause alarm in or fool would be predators. Check out the online gallery by clicking the button below to see many different kinds of mimicry.
Original works of art from this year will be displayed at an exhibit held at Saint Gaudens National Historical Park in Cornish, NH on June 19, 2024 from 4:30 - 7pm. Activities will be lead by the Caterpillar Lab, SCCD (us), Cornish Library, and Saint Gaudens Art Educator and rangers. There will also be a PD for educators from 3-4pm. See more information on how to attend in the Professional Development section below.
Admission to the park is free this day. We hope you will join us!
