The Wood Wide Web

A mushroom is the fruiting body of a much larger organism that lives underground in the forest. Most people have learned that fungus is a decomposer, breaking down dead plant and animal matter, recycling matter in ecosystems. But did you know that fungus and bacteria also act as an information and nutrient highway for plants? This phenomenon is called the Wood Wide Web.

Learn what kind of information is shared by listening to Susan Simard's Ted Talk on this subject. It is truly fascinating!
