Meet Jeff & Chris Plant

Our volunteers are our shining lights! This past year, 29 volunteers accumulated over 380 hours of service to conservation in Sullivan County. We couldn't do all this good work without them and are so thankful. Read on to hear about 2 our amazing volunteers.

Jeff and Chris Plant have lived in Cornish for over twenty years now. They moved from Keene when Jeff gat a job working in the Anesthesia Department at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) as a Nurse Anesthetist. He did this until he retireed in 2015. Chris was the Clinical Resource Coordinator for the Trauma Service at DHMC until her retirement in 2014.

Since they retired, they have traveled all over the world. When they are home, they like to work on their property, gardening and fixing things up. Jeff also volunteers at the Arrowhead Ski Area in Claremont in the rental shop and was active in the Mt. Eustis Ski Area in Littleton, NH.

As volunteers for SCCD, Jeff & Chris have participated in a trail work clean-up day, led a 4-mile hike on the Unity Mountain Trail, helped with plant sale order prep day, created center pieces for the annual awards dinner, and watered and weeded in the high tunnels and gardens at the Eco Ag Center. They continue to use their talents during the growing season as needed.

Jeff and Chris got involved with SCCD after attending a great program on raising shiitake mushrooms at home taught by Dave Wichland of Wichland Woods. They feel strongly that SCCD is a very worthwhile organization to support with their time and talents.

We can always use more dedicated volunteers, our shining lights. Let us know if you want to help with conservation efforts in Sullivan County. Whatever your skill set, we can use them!
